Nativity story brought to life at Newbold College

December 14, 2012

Bringing the nativity to life, students and teachers from Newbold College performed scenes from the Christmas story.

Guests were invited to walk around the grounds of the Binfield college as Mary spoke to the angel Gabriel and shepherds tended to their sheep.

Smilka Markek, who organised the event, said: “The kids really loved it and they were all able to pet the animals that were in the scenes.

“I heard a little girl ask her dad if they could come again next week because she liked the animals so much.”

The college wanted to create something that would show the true Christmas story.

Smilka added: “We managed to teach people about the real meaning of Christmas, which was our aim, so we were very pleased.”

The living nativity also raised £352 for Sebastian’s Action Trust through a refreshments stall.

Of course it's true Bruce...you just need to look at the secular writings of Thallus, Pliny the Younger,Suetonius ,Tacitus, Mara Bar-Serapion, Phlegon ,Celsus and even the sarcastic Lucian of Samosata to see this. However,to quote the baby Jesus when he was all grown up "unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven" ...how difficult this must be to those who have forgotten what it is like to be a child.

While it is very welcome that the true story of Christmas is being given some prominence it is worrying that it is left to a very fringe Christian Church like the Seventh Day Adventists to acheive this.
