Gold thieves smashed a jewellers' window and snatched thousands of pounds worth of stock.
Rolex watches, gold chains, rings and a diamond pendant valued at a 'significant amount' were stolen from traditional independent jeweller Ascot Goldsmiths, in Course Road, this morning.
Two men pulled up outside the shop on a motorbike at around 11.20am and smashed the front window before grabbing display items and speeding away in the direction of Ascot Racecourse.
Police are urging any witnesses to come forward or anyone who is offered 'suspiciously cheap jewellery.
Det Con Teranjeet Finn, from Maidenhead CID, said: “The offenders have stolen a significant amount of jewellery, including rings, gold chains, a diamond pendant and Rolex watches.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area who has not yet spoken to police or anyone who saw people acting suspiciously before the incident.
“I would also be keen to hear from anyone who has been offered any suspiciously cheap jewellery.”
