Gallons of water flooded an old people's home after the water mains burst this afternoon.
The ground floor of Beeches Manor, in Reading Road, Wokingham, was filled with water when it overflowed from the boiler room and soaked through the walls at around 3.30pm.
Wokingham firefighters attended the scene to stop the source of the water until maintenance crews for the care home had arrived.
Watch manager Steve Beard said: "There were hundreds and hundreds litres of water all coming from the boiler room.
"The reception and corridors were worst affected but not the areas where the old people were and the manager and staff dealt with it appropriately and calmly.
"It took us around an hour to isolate the leak but I expect the maintenance team will be working into the night."
He added the call out meant they had been unable to lead the Wokingham Winter Parade procession this afternoon.
