A man has been arrested after a 4x4 crashed into a bungalow this morning, narrowly missing a mother and her baby.
A 31-year-old man is in custody accused of drink driving and dangerous driving offences after a Range Rover hit a home in London Road, Sunninghill.
A fire station manager said the mother and her three-month-old baby had a "miraculous escape" just before 8am, when the pair were trapped under the front of the vehicle and a bed.
Firefighters worked with ambulance crew to dig a tunnel through the wreckage and set them free.
A Surrey police spokeswoman said: "A man has been arrested at an address in Virginia Water in connection with a number of offences in the Thames Valley Police area this morning.
"The man was detained at 10.40am outside a property in Gorse Hill Road and has been taken to Staines police station whilst enquiries continue."
The baby, mother and her father - who climbed free through a kitchen window after the incident - did not suffer any major injuries and were taken St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey as a precaution.
