Family escape house fire

By Jennie Slevin
November 20, 2012

A woman and her two children escaped from their house in Darwin Place in Bracknell last night after a fire broke out.

Three fire crews from Bracknell, Crowthorne and Wokingham were called to the scene yesterday evening.

The fire, which started in the home behind the Horse and Groom Harvester in Bagshot Road, was dealt with quickly and was confined to one room.

Bracknell watch manager Michael Fulwell said the family did the right thing by escaping the house.

He said: "The smoke detector alerted them and they were out of the house before we arrived.

"They didn't try to deal with it themselves and they made sure we were alerted."

He added that the crew were unclear at the time how the fire started and that an investigation would continue.
