Lower Earley cordon after gas leak

November 14, 2012

Police have cordoned off an area in Lower Earley after a gas main was damaged when a car hit a doctors' surgery in Brookside Close.

The public are being advised to avoid the area as Gypsy Lane has been closed at the junction with Silverdale Road and with Rushey Way.

Police were called at 11.21am today after a Skoda Fabia crashed into the building.

No one is believed to have been injured, but a gas main was damaged in the collision.

A 150-metre cordon has been put in place for public safety reasons and people have been evacuated from the local area.

It is not known at this stage how long the road closures will be in place for.

81 year old woman. Hopefully her license will be taken away unless she can pass a test again (if at all)

Don't know what would be more embarrassing, being identified as the person who crashed into the surgery or as being a skoda driver.
