Family's tribute to Padworth Common crash victim

November 14, 2012

A family has paid tribute to a man who was killed when his car crashed into a tree in Padworth Common.

Philip Keefe, 38, from Tadley, Hampshire, died when the green MG ZS careered off Baughurst Road near to the junction with Rectory Road on Thursday, November 8.

In a statement his family said: "In his early teens Philip was fascinated by the exploits of Donald Campbell.

"He went to Presentation College in Reading and then to Loughborough University where he graduated in aeronautical engineering in 1996.

"He worked for Kodak as an operational maintenance engineer on photo processing then in 2006 joined Emerson Group in Slough as a calibration engineer on measuring equipment dedicated to the petro-chemical industry.

"Philip will be dearly missed by his father Arthur [better known as Tom] and his two brothers."

Police, ambulance and fire crews from Dee Road and Mortimer were called at around 6.45am and Mr Keefe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information is urged to call PC Lewis McQueen of the Joint Roads Policing Unit at Three Mile Cross on 101.
