Reading remembers the fallen

November 12, 2012

Thousands of people across the Reading area stood in silence to remember those who died over the last century yesterday.

At Brock Barracks, in Caversham and in surrounding areas veterans and their families and friends donned their medals and red poppies to muster for parades and wreath-laying services.

At Brock Barracks, Mayor of Reading Councillor Jenny Rynn joined hundreds of people, young and old, for the two minutes' silence which followed the Kohima epitaph:  "When you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow, we gave our today."

After the service the Waterloo Band of 7 Rifles played a rousing accompaniment to the march past on the parade ground.
