Union J scrape through X Factor sing-off

Winkfield's Josh Cuthbert and his band Union J are through another week of the X Factor after scraping through this week's sing-off.

Josh, 20, and the boys were in the bottom two with fellow boy band District3 but were saved by Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger last night.

Louis Walsh, who was mentor to both the boy bands, refused to vote.

The theme was 'Best of British' on Saturday's live show and Union J sang a cover of Coldplay's 'Fix You'.

The boys dedicated the song to family members in the armed forces and received high praise from the judges.

All judges praised the song choice and Tulisa said: "That was a brilliant performance - what you have done, you have found your market and you are very much appealing to them."

The pop star added it was now 'battle of the boy bands' and said she was worried it would split the vote.

Gary also complimented the band but said there were sometimes a few pitching problems.

For the sing-off, Union J sang a cover of Adele's 'Set Fire to the Rain' before a tense and emotional vote from the judges.
