Distressed toddler locked in flat

By Jon Nurse
November 09, 2012

A firefighter climbed into a third floor flat to rescue a toddler after his mum had locked herself out.

The toddler was trapped alone in a Romney House flat in Blewburton Walk, Bracknell, before a firefighter climbed a ladder and slid through a window to reunite him with his mother.

A crew from Bracknell fire station was sent to the flat at 11.45am yesterday and had rescued the child within eight minutes of the call.

Crew manager Tony Cooper said: "The mother had gone into the hallway and the door had slammed. We were at the scene in five minutes and a firefighter climbed through an open window to then reopen the flat.

"The mother and son were ecstatic and tearful when they were back together."
