Autumn leaf clear-up begins

By Becky Barnes
November 01, 2012

A street cleaning operation to combat fallen Autumn leaves has begun across the borough.

Ringway, Bracknell Forest Council's street cleaners, has a new 'vacuum-cleaner-style' machine and has deployed extra street sweepers for the next six weeks to deal with the 'huge quantity' of fallen leaves.

The council has asked members of the public to be patient as leaf fall is 'unpredictable' and to report any safety issues to them.

A Bracknell Forest Council spokeswoman said: "The cleansing schedules have been realigned to ensure that the Ringway crews are in the area of most need at the right time.

"If there has been a blanket fall of leaves during windy weather then residents are asked to be patient, as it is not possible to sweep every street with such a problem in the borough immediately."

The new machine purchased by Ringway allows 'proper cleansing' in corners and around obstacles such as parked cars.

Bracknell Forest Council and Ringway say they will 'continually monitor' the leaf clearance operation is going.

But anyone with concerns about safety on their road such as wet leaves contact Customer Services team via www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk or (01344) 352 000.

When I began writing this letter, I had the notion that I would write about something positive and optimistic instead of going on about how foolish Autumn Leaves are. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of anything particularly positive to write about.

So, instead, I'll just tell you that Autumn Leaves's favorite activities include cheating, lying, and tricking people into believing that all any child needs is a big dose of television every day.

Before I begin, let me point out that its nit-picky game of chess—the abominable chess of Trotskyism—has continued for far too long. It's time to checkmate this incompetent jackanapes and show it that it is pointless to fret about the damage already caused by its self-deceiving methods of interpretation. The past cannot be changed.

We must cope with the present if we hope to affect our future and invite all the people who have been harmed by Autumn Leaves to continue to express and assert their concerns in a constructive and productive fashion. I insist I've now told you everything you need to know about Autumn Leaves. I'll therefore end this letter with the supererogatory comment that Autumn Leaves has flung itself into one rhetorical pratfall after another with the unswerving momentum of a blind rhino

Why would someone ridicule this? I'm as pessimistic as they come, but this is a necessary job!

Whilst some ridiculde the idea I say well done. But what I am worried about is that the cycle paths will be forgotten. Around Great Hollands it is particulary bad.

Let's hope they do a great job!.

Ooh, this is vital work;- those damn leaves are a menace to society - the scourge of decent folk everywhere. Why, just this morning I nearly had a nasty fall on a slippery leaf, an inch to the left and would have been all over. Hoorah for Ringway and their brave men with their magnificent equipment!
