Armed robber raids Bracknell bookmakers

By Becky Barnes
November 01, 2012

An armed robber stole cash from a Bracknell bookmakers after threatening a member of staff last night (Wednesday).

The 'stocky' man was wearing a balaclava and brandishing what is believed to be a handgun when he forced the 25-year-old woman to hand over cash at Eden Bookmakers, Harmanswater Road, shortly before 8pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the robbery where an 'undisclosed' amount of cash was swiped.

Det Sgt Steve Witts, investigating the incident, said: “This was obviously a very frightening incident for the woman but fortunately she was not hurt in the robbery.

“There would have been people in this area at the time as there is a pub and takeaway food outlets nearby and I am keen to hear from anyone who saw someone acting suspiciously either before or immediately after the incident.”

The armed robber is white, 6ft, of stocky build and was wearing a black balaclava and cream jacket.

Anyone with information contact Det Sgt Witts on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or crimestoppers-uk.org.
