Olympic hopeful Oliver Leonard visits the Fit Box

By Jonathan Low
October 31, 2012

A future Olympian joined members of a social fitness club to celebrate its relaunch.

The Fit Box, which shares facilities with Bracknell Hockey Club, opened its doors in January 2010, but had looked to relocate.

However, an agreement was reached to allow for renovation of the club house at Birch Hill recreation ground and an extension, which would see the two clubs coexist for the foreseeable future. The renovation sees the construction of a new floor which includes a lounge area, reception desk and training frame.

Around 20 people attended the party, which included an appearance from Olympic hopeful swimmer Oliver Leonard, who was an Olympic torchbearer this summer.

Paul Russell, the club’s owner, said: “It was a really nice night and I think everyone had a good time.

“The feedback we’ve had has been amazing too.”

One member, Heather Stubbs, said: “It was a lovely evening with the Fit Box family.”

The club opened as an alternative to the traditional gym format and has between 40 and 50 members.
