September 20, 2012

A pub owner has resigned as councillor leaving an unexpected vacancy at Bracknell Town Council.

Neil Ellis, who owns The Bull, in the High Street and was Town Centre ward councillor, notified the council of his resignation on Wednesday, September 12, due to moving away from Bracknell.

Cllr Chris Turrell, town council leader, said: “While sad to see Neil go I wish him well in his new life and I would like to thank him for his contribution to the council and the community.”

Mayor of Bracknell Town Cllr Shelagh Pile said the former councillor’s departure was ‘a shock’.

She said: “I am very sad – I first met him when I was borough mayor and we have been friends ever since. I hope to have a chance to say a proper goodbye.”

Bracknell Town Council has issued a public notice of a vacancy for Town Centre ward.

Applications must be made in writing to the Proper Officer at Bracknell Forest Council, Easthampstead House, Town Square, Bracknell RG12 1AQ by Tuesday, October 2.

What a shame - he is a really nice guy. I wish him well! Does that mean The Bull is changing hands again?
