Bracknell MP highlights importance of eye health

By Jon Nurse
September 18, 2012

Bracknell MP Dr Phillip Lee is backing National Eye Health Week which started yesterday.

The week aims to raise awareness of the importance of eye health and the need for everyone to have sight checks every two years to look after their eyes.

Dr Lee said: “I am delighted to support National Eye Health Week. I encourage all my constituents to find out how they can look after their eye health and to ensure they have their eye health checked by going for a sight test every two years."

Francesca Marchetti, chair of the National Eye Health Week Steering Group, said: “Sight is the sense people fear losing the most, yet many of us don't know the best way to look after our eyes.

"This is why it is so important you get your eye health tested every two years even if you think your vision is fine as some eye conditions may not show symptoms."

I wonder why our Doctor MP, failed to mention what happens when you are found to have cataracts! Due to economy cuts there is no chance of getting them removed until you are no longer able to pass the DVLA sight test with your glasses on. And don't forget spectacles aren't free, a lot of pensioners have to pay for them as well.

Dr Lee is seriously bad for my blood pressure too. Hopefully he will be a one-term MP and the people of Bracknell will give the constituency a health check by getting rid of this irritating germ the Bracknell Conservative Association selection committee passed on to us!
