September 10, 2012

A charity which cares for people dealing with cancer was given a boost promoting a 5km drag queen race in October.

Drag Queen Mitzy Champagne is taking part in the run and was also on hand to launch the race at the Thames Hospicecare Shop in Broadway in Bracknell.

Mitzy has also just opened a new cafe in Market Street.

Michelle Bowdidge, the charity’s senior events fundraiser, said: “The race is a fun way to raise funds for Thames Hospicecare in this special 25th anniversary year for the hospice.

“Taking part in the THc Drag Race will help fund specialist palliative care for local people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their family and carers.”

To register for the run, which takes place on Saturday, October 13 at 9am in Windsor, call Thames Hospicecare 01753 848963 or go online to www.thameshospicecare.org.uk.

Entry is £10, but all runners are encouraged to raise as much money as possible to benefit the charity.

Minimum age for entrants is 18 and the closing date for registrations is October 1.
