Reading FC fans let stranded in Great Hollands after bus no show

Reading fans who were left stranded at Great Hollands Square in Bracknell are being urged to contact the football club after their shuttle bus failed to show up.

The incident happened ahead of the side’s 3-2 Capital One cup victory over Peterborough United on Tuesday, August 28 at the Madejski Stadium.

One fan took to social networking site Twitter to vent his frustrations.

He called it an ‘absolute shambles’ and said the club ‘promised normal service and about 15 of us, young and old, had to go home’.

Supporters were due to catch the 954 bus which runs from Ringmead in Great Hollands to the stadium.

A Stagecoach spokeswoman said “We apologise to supporters of Reading Football Club that bus services from Bracknell to the Peterborough United Cup match did not run.

“This was due to a recent change in personnel and subsequently the match notification was not received at the depot which runs the services. This is the first time a bus service operated by Stagecoach has not run in the five years since the services began in 2007.”

Craig Mortimer-Zhika, head of communications at the club, said any fans who had bought tickets to the game should make themselves known so they can sort out the problem.
