Green light for Look Out parking charges

By Becky Barnes
September 05, 2012

Parking charges at The Look Out Discovery Centre will come into force later this month.

Bracknell Forest Council's executive committee gave proposals to charge for parking the green light at its meeting last night despite concerns raised by statutory consultee Natural England and members of the public.

From September 17, parking will cost £2 for up to four hours or £4 for a full day.

Councillor Gareth Barnard, executive member for children and young people, said: "It is important to recognise this means the council has the resources to protect and support green spaces.

"We should not lose sight, in these constrained times, that we can use revenue towards enhancing other areas of the borough."

Incidentally - if these proposals were only approved on Tuesday, why did the work to install signs, ticket machines, etc. start at least three weeks ago?

...not forgetting that there is a £2 per day charge for Bikes in the Forest if you are over 16 (or £25 per year).

So....Park for free at Crowthorne (Off the roundabout which joins the Crowthorne-Bracknell Road to Lower Wokingham Road) and Cycle to the Look Out through Swinley Forest, it's only three miles, you can reward yourself with a Coffee and Cake on arrival and the kids will be worn out by the time you get back. Don't forget the bike Permit though for Swinley Forest (https://sslrelay.com/www.mbsawebsite.com/sess/utn155047510db079a/shopdata/index.shopscript)
