Drug find sparks extra patrols at North Lake

By Becky Barnes
August 24, 2012

Drug paraphernalia found at North Lake has triggered extra police patrols at South Hill Park.

Officers confirmed that after a resident reported an incident on August 6, they have been patrolling the area and performing stop checks.

PCSO Hilary Hyslop, from the Birch Hill neighbourhood team, said: “We have had other reports and rumours have been going round so the area has been worked into our patrol plan.

“Anyone loitering is being stop checked and if we find any evidence we will seize that.”

However, PCSO Hyslop added: “It is not a huge problem – it is just we have been made aware.”

Two residents raised concerns after finding items including foil and drug packets on separate occasions earlier this month.

I love it how a headline screams 'Drug Find' when the article reports no such thing.

These so called drug packets - not even experienced police officers declare any suspected drugs until they've been analysed by a lab. I'm interested to know how clueless members of the public are able to pronounce on such find.
