Bracknell Choral Society on a high

August 17, 2012

A singing group ‘nailed’ its final performance of the summer, with the director calling it his ‘favourite performance yet’.

The singers from Bracknell Choral Society performed a range of songs including Finzi’s Seven Poems of Robert Bridges and Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs, at their last concert of the season at Wellington College in Crowthorne.

Musical director Greg Hallam said: “I’m on a real high after performing and listening to all that beautiful music – I think it might just be my favourite Bracknell concert yet.

“I was pleased how well that programme worked in our ‘cabaret’ setting, and I received so many comments from audience members remarking on just how much they enjoyed it. The atmosphere was fab, the singing was fab, the food was fab and the soloist was fab. And of course our pianist is fab.

“Our sound gelled practically straight away – with no weird acoustics to deal with.

“That was a concert I will remember for a long time.”

Accompanist Nick Austin added: “To use the vernacular – they absolutely nailed that gig!”

The group now prepares for its autumn concert on Saturday, October 27, at St Mary’s School, in St Mary’s Road, Ascot.
