Prizes handed out to Bracknell Food & Drink Festival winners

August 16, 2012

Cooking lessons and Waitrose vouchers were presented to the winners of competitions at Bracknell’s Food & Drink Festival 2012.

John Garner, of Warfield, was the winner of £200 of vouchers from the Bracknell-based supermarket giant and Meelan Lou, from Bracknell, won a day at the Waitrose cookery school for her and a friend in competitions at the festival on June 30.

The prizes were presented by Cherise Wesson and Graham Oakley from Bracknell Waitrose and Gemma Tizzard and Rob Morris from Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP), which organised the town centre festival. Rob Morris, general manager of BRP, said: “With these fantastic competition prizes, plus prizes for our Design a Pizza competition winners and providing us with many of the ingredients used on the day, not to mention all the behind the scenes help, Waitrose were a key part of the success of the Bracknell Food and Drink Festival 2012.” He added: “BRP would like to thank Graham Oakley and all of this team for their excellent support of the event.”

Mr Oakley added: “We have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside BRP to deliver an enthralling food festival for Bracknell town.”

   enthralling says Oakley.

According to Merriam Webster this means to enthrall: 1) to hold spellbound; 2) to hold in or reduce to slavery (hmm).

According to the Urban Dictionary we have a definition of enthralling: 1) amazing, captivating; to lure someone into whatever it is that you are saying, or selling. Often used sarcastically, as a way to tell the Seller that while you are listening, you just do not care; 2)Word used by snotty rich kids or adults who absolutely despise something.

As a 'Foodie' I welcome this article, in highlighting my unique capacity for ingesting things and then pooing them out.Not only do I eat food with my mouth, I eat food that tastes nice. Yes that’s right people of get Bracknell, I’m not one of those people who likes unpleasant-tasting things like chalk and toads.I also like to ‘whip up the odd gastro treat’ in the kitchen, but not in a slightly camp way. I believe, as herd animals, humans are constantly looking for new, increasingly ridiculous labels to set themselves apart from their fellow bovines therefore I predict that 2014 will see the birth of the ‘water-ie’, that rare person who appreciates hydration.”
