Pond-dipping and bug-hunting enjoyed at Shepherd Meadows

August 10, 2012

Children, parents and grandparents searched for life in the depths of Sandhurst’s balancing pond and Shepherd Meadows.

Bracknell Forest’s park and countryside rangers held a pond-dipping and bug-hunting session for families as part of the Sandhurst Summer of Fun programme which is running throughout the school holidays for children of all ages.

Youngsters aged between three and 11 who came along with their mums, dads and grandparents, were handed fishing nets and then they searched for insects in the pond last Wednesday, August 1.

They were then guided through the meadow with a ranger and hunted for bugs under logs and in the long grassy areas.

Ranger Marie-Anne Phillips said: “We did two different activities which went brilliantly.

“It was very popular and we are going to run a similar event later in August.”
