Mayor Jennie McCracken opens K4 shop

August 06, 2012

“Unsung heroes” have opened a charity shop in Bracknell town centre.

Mayor of Bracknell Forest Council Jennie McCracken cut the ribbon to ‘K4’ in Charles Square on Thursday, July 30.

Project manager Catriona Mitchell, who came up with the idea, said: “Our volunteers are the unsung heroes who made sure the shop opened.

“Since then trade has been steady thanks to generous donations from Bracknell people.”

The shop is a venture by Kerith Community Church and the money will go towards its projects in the community – including Bracknell Foodbank, CAP Bracknell, Kerith Konnections, Crisis Intervention, Hilltop, Deaf Hope and Job Club.

As she cut the ribbon, Cllr McCracken spoke of Kerith Community Church as a “force for good”.

She said: “It’s going to be a good impact, I can’t see how this can fail.

“It’s good to see a shop pulling people into Charles Square, and I hope it will bring trade in.”
