Lorry used to block motorway after smash

By Hugh Fort
July 25, 2012

Firefighters used a lorry to temporarily block the motorway while they cleared two cars after a crash earlier.

The crew from Wokingham Road were called to the accident between junctions 8/9 at Maidenhead and Junction 10 at Wokingham.

At around 4pm, a Volvo crashed into the barrier and was then hit by a BMW travelling behind it.

The crew then hailed a passing articulated lorry and got it to drive across the lanes to block the traffic while they cleared up the debris.

The motorway was closed for around five minutes while the vehicles were removed to the dual carriageway.

A man involved was checked by an ambulance crew but firefighters said he was in fact a doctor himself and decided he was not hurt.
