Call to make your vote count in Bracknell
July 10, 2012
Election register forms will be delivered in Bracknell soon so voters can ensure they are eligible to vote in November’s elections for police and crime commissioners.
On Thursday, November 15, voting takes place for the first time to elect commissioners who will be accountable for how crime is tackled in their police force area.
Bracknell Forest Council is sending out voter register forms earlier than usual to make sure the electoral register is up to date in time for the vote.
Daphne Gray, registration services manager, said: “Registering to vote is very simple. All you have to do is update the annual canvass form with the details of everyone in your household who is eligible to vote and return it to us as soon as possible, remembering to include anyone aged 16 or 17.
“If the details for your property haven’t changed you can reply by text, phone or internet.
“However, it’s important to remember that you have to register every year.”
Residents can opt to have their details excluded from the edited register, which means personal details cannot be bought by individuals and commercial organisations. Residents who do not receive a form within the next few weeks should contact the electoral team at the council on 01344 352000.
