School governor carried Olympic torch through Northampton

By Becky Barnes
July 05, 2012

A father of three is looking forward to watching the torch visit his home town after carrying it himself earlier this week.

Robin Briscoe, 43, from Bracknell, will watch the torch pass by with his three sons, after carrying it through Northampton on Monday, July 2.

Zimbabwe-born Robin said: “For me this was a great honour and I was nominated by a friend for my community work as a parent governor at Sandy Lane Primary School in Bracknell.”

As a parent governor Robin has taken on numerous roles including literacy governor, raising money for books and teaching materials for a school in Zambia.

Robin said he will use his experience as a torch carrier as a way to raise more funds for this cause.

He said: “I am now looking forward to seeing the relay next week as it passes through Bracknell.”
