Police warn mini-moto pests

June 26, 2012

Owners of mini-motorbikes are being reminded their bikes can be confiscated and destroyed if they are caught riding illegally.

Chief inspector Simon Bowden, commander of Bracknell police, said there was a serious problem around the borough a few years ago with people whizzing around estates on the mini motos.

Officers have confiscated and crushed bikes in the past and Ch Insp Bowden said his officers still had the powers to remove them.

He said: “We had a big problem a few years ago which did lead to a number of confiscations.

“If there are problems again we have the powers to warn people about their use and then confiscate and destroy them if they are caught again within a year.

“It’s died down a bit but I’d like to remind people who have them they have to be insured and even then cannot be ridden on the roads. The only place to use them is on private land.”

Really. So how - Chief Inspector Simon 'Public Interface' Bowden - do you explain the lack of police commitment to dealing with this problem when reported? I've given up ringing the police because the yobs are tearing up the place locally. No plod ever attends despite names and addresses given.
