A park was buzzing after children and adults tried out a range of sporting activities at a Family Fitness Fun Day.
More than 150 people flocked to Sandhurst Memorial Park, Yorktown Road, on Saturday, June 9, to have a go at all sorts of demonstrations put on by local sports clubs.
The event was jointly organised by Sandhurst Town Council and local GPs in a bid to encourage people to take up exercise.
Mayor of Sandhurst Councillor Dale Birch, who opened the day with Bracknell MP Dr Phillip Lee, said: “We want to encourage people to get fit and stay fit.
“If you stay fit, you feel good and if you take pride in yourself you are taking pride in your community.”
Activities that proved most popular were the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst’s rowing challenge, orienteering and Zumba.
Organiser Dr John Thing said: “We found 14 per cent of people were not exercising and the main reason for having the day was to encourage people who lack exercise.
“Not exercising is as detrimental as diabetes, obesity and smoking combined so a small difference can make a big difference.”
Dr Thing will check up on the 14 per cent of attendees to see how they are getting on in four months.
