The stars were out in force at the Ascot Countryside Family Raceday.

Television’s most popular duo Ant and Dec, patrons of Ascot’s children’s Colts and Fillies Club, were on hand to meet members and present trophies on Sunday, April 1.

Star of This Morning and Dancing on Ice Phillip Schofield chose Ascot to celebrate his 50th birthday, while Britain’s got Talent judge Amanda Holden took a break from finding the country’s next ‘big star’ to spend a day at the races.

Also on hand to present prizes, including a Nirvana Spa Experience, was the Great Britain Synchronised Swimming Squad.

The 13-strong squad, plus coaches and officials were given VIP treatment, after The Wokingham Times and Bracknell Forest Standard had organised their visit.

The squad are training up to 70 hours a week in preparation for the London Olympics and used Sunday as a ‘bonding day’.

Squad member Katie Skelton said: “Ascot laid on some lovely food and drinks and we had the chance to go to the parade ring and present prizes, as well as take a look behind the scenes.”
