Teenager robbed of phone on Reading Bridge
March 22, 2012
A 16-year-old girl was robbed of her mobile phone as she walked across Reading Bridge in Caversham on Saturday.
The victim was walking across the bridge when she noticed a man standing near the steps on Caversham side of the bridge who then tried to talk to her, grabbed her and took her mobile phone at around 2am.
After the robbery the man ran off down the steps towards the river. The victim went back towards the town centre for help and met a white man in his 20s who escorted her back to town.
The robber is Asian, in his 20s, around 5ft 9in and fairly slim. The stolen phone is a black Blackberry Curve.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the robbery - especially anyone who was driving over the bridge at the time - to come forward.
Officers would also like to speak to the man who escorted the victim back into town.
If you have information you can call police on 101 or 0800 555 111.
