KLA Tencor's £1,000 gift for Sandhurst Day Centre

January 27, 2012

Sandhurst Day Centre is planning to refurbish its kitchen, thanks to a £1,000 donation from an international company.

KLA Tencor employee David Hunt put the day centre in Yorktown Road forward for the donation as his mother-in-law Marjory Harland visited there.

Mr Hunt explained: “She went there twice a week, it was nice for her to have some different company.”

He added: “A couple of months ago the company said it had money set aside for a charitable donation and employees were asked to make suggestions.”

Diane Mayhew, manager of the day centre, said: “Marjory was a lovely lady and loved to play the piano for the members and had lots of friends here.

“The kitchen as it is in need of modernisation.

“Although it is still working and is up to standard, there are lots of things that need updating.

“We are hoping to get a new floor, tile the walls and do some painting.”
