More opportunities for Nepalese community

By Laura Herbert
January 27, 2012

Older members of the Nepali community in Bracknell have a lack of activities in the borough.

Bracknell Forest Partnership Board was told at its meeting last Thursday that work is taking place to offer them greater social opportunities to integrate with the community as part of the borough’s ‘All of Us’ Community Cohesion and Engagement Strategy.

The board heard the strategy has been successful in Bracknell Forest, with researchers praising the borough as one of the most cohesive communities where they had researched.

But the community cohesion and engagement group discovered the Nepali community in Bracknell found communications became a problem when they tried to access further advice and services.

The board is due to hear an update on the group'’s work at its next meeting on Thursday, February 16.

The update will include the scale of redundancies at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst and how the group could deal with the impact of these.
