Man jailed for William Twigg pub punch

Great Hollands man Brian Oliphant has been jailed for 18 months after punching a man and causing him to suffer severe head injuries.

Oliphant, 67, punched a 46-year-old who had been drinking in the William Twigg pub in Great Hollands Square at about 1am on July 12, 2008.

The man fell and hit his head causing a bleed on his brain.

Oliphant, of Great Hollands Square, was convicted of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm at Reading Crown Court on Thursday, September 2.
