Gym club’s plea for competition sponsor cash

Gymnasts who have been picked to represent Britain at a top tournament in Sweden could be stranded at home if they cannot find sponsorship for their trip.
A team from Bracknell Gymnastics Club has been invited by British Gymnastics to represent the country at the Team Gym European Championships in Sweden in October.
Mo Davies, fundraising officer for the Bracknell Leisure Centre-based club, said: “Unfortunately British Gymnastics do not pay for the trip and, as a charity, we are not in a position to fund it ourselves without a further donation.
“We are looking for help from local businesses or wealthy individuals to assist with the cost of sending our team to Sweden to represent Britain.”
The team is made up of nine members. The club estimates it will cost around £800 in air fares, accommodation and expenses. Team members also need to spend about £150 each on the Great Britain leotards, sports bags and tracksuits from British Gymnastics.
