Litter picking hits number 53

March 19, 2010

Community volunteers got their hands dirty to spruce up the grounds of Birch Hill’s arts centre.

The 53rd Birch Hill Litter Pick was held on Saturday and volunteers managed to pick up more than 20 bags full of rubbish from the grounds of South Hill Park in Ringmead.

Organiser Pat Kennewell said: “It was my 53rd litter pick in Birch Hill.

“The grounds of South Hill Park are now looking lovely.

“I got my wellies on and got in the lake, which I love doing – I even got eyed up by a swan.

“The only thing is that it was the same volunteers as usual.

“I’d love to see some new faces at our future events.”
