Gambler took Nando’s cash

A Birch Hill man has admitted embezzling more than £10,000 from an Edinburgh restaurant where he worked for five years, to fund his gambling habit.
Benjamin Metcalfe, 23, from Ladybank, last month admitted embezzling £10,220 when he worked at Nando’s last year, at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
The court heard a director of the company noticed money was not being banked in August last year.
Metcalfe was reported to the police. He admitted taking the money and said he planned to pay it back with his winnings at Blackjack.
He will return for sentence on Thursday, March 25.
