Yobs smash windows of 20 cars in one night

By Hugh Fort
February 15, 2010

Around 20 cars had their windows smashed by stone throwing yobs during a night of vandalism around Bracknell.

The cars were targeted in various parts of the borough between 6pm on Monday, February 8, and 9am on Tuesday, February 9.

All the incidents involved car windows being smashed.

Cars were hit in Redvers Road in Easthampstead, Uffington Drive and Nightingale Crescent in Harmans Water and Bruton Way in Forest Park.

Other acts of vandalism were reported in York Way, Braye Close and High Street, Sandhurst, Mickle Hill in Little Sandhurst, Owlsmoor Road and Yeovil Road in Owlsmoor and Crowthorne Road, College Road and Branksome Hill Road in College Town.

PC Steven Botwright, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are treating these incidents as linked.

“Our investigators found stones inside several of the vehicles, and it would seem that the intent was to cause damage, rather than to steal the contents.”

Anyone with information can call PC Botwright on 08458 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

CrowthoneLad - well said. Why on earth would you want to raise children in this area? I feel very sorry for kids who have never known anywhere else, and grateful that I've only lived in this area for a few years. Grateful that I grew up in a city bustling with life and culture and things to do.

It really amazes me, that with all that Bracknell has to offer for the Youth's of Bracknell ie the Ice rink, the Bowling alley to name but a few, the youths cannot find a better way to spend their time. I have lived in Woodley for 20 years, which has nothing for the youngsters & I can honestly say i have never encountered any yobbish behaviour well done the parents in Woodley

CrowthorneLad, I agree that parents need to take more responsibility for their yobbish children. It's not always just down to the parents but in many cases it is.

Sounds about right for Bracknell Forest now... this is now the norm! Kids walked past my house and knocked over 4 wheelie bins on Sunday night. They then kicked the rubbish all over the main road. I think parents should be blamed for this. If you can't bring kids up to respect others and their property, do not have any in the first place! This country is falling into a big black hole, and I can guarentee that I will NEVER bring children into the world as long as I am living here!
