£1,300 to clear fallen trees in Crowthorne

February 08, 2010

Trees that fell under the weight of snow earlier in the month will cost a parish council more than £1,300 to clear up.

Trees around Crowthorne that toppled during the arctic conditions at the start of January mean the village’s parish council has to shell out cash to clear them away.

At a meeting on Tuesday, January 19, Councillor Richard Price said: “Trees in the Morgan Rec’ have suffered damage because of the snow. A visual inspection has been undertaken and the cost of the work is £585.”

In Old Wokingham Road neighbours had to clear up a tree which fell in the road, and council groundsmen identified three further trees in the road that need to be removed – a horse chestnut, a sycamore and a large Scots pine – at a cost of around £600.

Trees which fell in Sandhurst Road have cost £215 to clear away.
