Woman hospitalised after toxic fumes leak

November 26, 2009

Chemical fumes filtering through an air conditioning system left a woman needing hospital treatment.

The member of staff at medical company Johnson & Johnson’s Pinewood Campus in Nine Mile Ride, Crowthorne, breathed in fumes from solvents being used by workers on the building’s roof.

The gas had leaked in through the air conditioning system.

The woman complained of breathing difficulties and was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading shortly after 3pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters were also called to the scene to deal with the incident.

She recovered and went home later that day.
