'Bank boss killed himself after financial crisis'

November 19, 2009

A multi-millionaire found dead in woodland in Winkfield shot himself after suffering bouts of depression, an inquest at Windsor Guildhall found.

Banker Huibert Boumeester, 49, was the chief financial officer at ABN Amro during the £50 billion takeover which led to a financial crisis at the Royal Bank of Scotland.

He plunged into depression after leaving his job last year.

It was also revealed the father-of-two left his wife a note saying he “did not feel he could go on”.

His body was found by police in the woods in Winkfield on Sunday, June 28.

Coroner Peter Bedford recorded a  suicide verdict on Tuesday, November 9.
