Unconfirmed swine flu case at a Sandhurst school

An unconfirmed outbreak of swine-flu at College Town Infant and Junior Schools in Sandhurst is being investigated.

A council spokesman said the case was unconfirmed and the schools in Branksome Hill Road were working with the Health Protection Agency to figure out what steps to take.

The schools have not been closed.

East Berkshire declare a swine flu hot spot

Yesterday the government announced that school closures were no longer advised as health minister Andy Burnham admitted it is “impossible to contain the virus” and that the time has come to move from containment of the virus to treatment.

On Tuesday East Berkshire was declared a swine flu hotspot after cases doubled in a week.
