East Berkshire declared a swine flu hot spot

June 30, 2009

Cases of swine flu in East Berkshire have doubled in the last week making the area a hotspot for the virus.

Yesterday health officials revealed there were 116 confirmed cases across the area - 12 in Bracknell Forest.

Two more cases of swine flu confirmed

The urban make-up of Slough and the outbreak at Eton College are among factors blamed for the hotspot status.

Dr Angela Snowling, acting director of public health NHS Berkshire East, said: “We still have very small numbers compared to say London but have now been declared a hotspot. All GP’s and schools have been written to about new measures being put in place.”
