‘No interest’ in more beds at Broadmoor say councillors

June 29, 2009

The expansion of Broadmoor Hospital by 22 beds has “no relevance” to Bracknell Forest, said a panel of senior councillors.

Members of the council’s health overview and scrutiny panel agreed with the West London Mental Health Trust there was no need for them to be consulted over the increase at the Crowthorne high security psychiatric hospital.

Councillor Ian Leake, chairman of the panel, said at a meeting last Thursday: “We’ve only got this [agenda item] because it is on our patch.

“I propose we just agree that it has nothing to do with us, it has no relevance to us.”

My god – who does he think he is .... Cllr Leake making broad statements that the proposed expansion of Broadmoor is “of no relevance to us” – The arrogance of the man is astounding.

Broadmoor houses some of the most evil and depraved in Society – secured at Broadmoor for their protection and treatment as well as ours – I would have thought that given its proximity to local houses and school that Councillor Leake would want to represent his residents and been very interested in the proposals

This Councillor is the Deputy Mayor and by his very comments it just shows how truly out of touch with reality, and the electorate, he really is! Is he really fit to be Mayor?

“No Relevance” what rubbish!
