Man charged after William Twigg incident

May 21, 2009

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with an incident at the William Twigg pub in Bracknell.

Brian Michael Oliphant, 66, will appear before magistrates next month charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

The charge relate to an incident on July 12 last year when Derek Ashbolt was found unconscious outside the William Twigg public house in Great Hollands Square late at night.

The 45-year-old was taken to Reading's Royal Berkshire Hospital, where doctors discovered he had suffered a serious head injury.

Oliphant, of Great Hollands Square, was bailed and is due to appear before Maidenhead Magistrates Court on Monday, June 1.

A man in his twenties, who had been arrested in connection with an incident inside the pub earlier that evening, has been released without charge.
