By Hugh Fort
November 07, 2008

Rail passengers in Bracknell and Ascot faced delays this morning after a woman lost part of her arm when she fell between a train and a platform.

The accident took place on platform one at Wokinghan Train Station when the 18-year-old became trapped under the 8.04am service from Reading to Redhill.

Her right arm was partially amputated during the incident and she was taken to Reading's Royal Berkshire Hospital, where her condition has been described as serious but stable.

Firefighters, ambulance crews, British Transport Police and Thames Valley Police raced to the scene to free the girl.

Hundreds of commuters faced delays of at least 50 minutes while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Trains were halted for an hour and a half and delays were expected all morning.
