Life expectancy is average

August 22, 2008

People in Bracknell have a higher life expectancy than the national average, according to the latest figures.

Men are expected to live 78.6 years, while women can expect to live 82.6 years. National averages are 77 and 81.3 respectively.

Wokingham people live even longer, averaging 80.3 and 83.4 respectively, but those in Reading can expect to die at 77 and 81.7.

The figures were produced by the GMB union as par of its campaign for free healthy school meals for all primary school children.

Richard Ascough, GMB regional secretary, said: “Healthy eating is a key factor in how long we live. Free school meals for all primary school children will provide long term benefits to the nation’s health.”
