Bus stoned by 4 teenage girls

By Lorna Catling
August 19, 2008

“Pure luck” prevented anyone being injured when a teenage girl lobbed a stone at a moving bus.

The girl, who was with three others all aged about 14, was seen throwing the stone at the 194 bus as it approached the a stop in Great Hollands Road at about 2.15pm on Wednesday, August 6.

The window, two back from the door, shattered and the girls ran off in the direction of Wordsworth.

Andrew Taylor, commercial director of First Bus, said: “The driver phoned the police straight away and two cars came out.

“There just seems to be something about a moving bus that makes people want to throw stuff at it.

“It’s a nationwide thing and, luckily, not very common in Bracknell.”

Everyone was made to get off the bus. Some who were heading for Great Hollands went on their way, Mr Taylor added.

The bus then went back to the depot where it was repaired.

PC Michael Parker, neighbourhood specialist officer for Great Hollands, said: “Obviously I don’t need to state how dangerous this is and it is only through pure luck that no-one was hurt by this irresponsible behaviour.

“Any members of the community who can assist me in finding the offenders and telling me their names will be doing their community a great service.

“I will be dealing very robustly with those responsible.”

The four girls were white, two of them were dressed in white and one had a black top on.

Call PC Parker on 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
