Cyclist struck by jeering gang in jeep

7/ 8/2008

A cyclist was assaulted when a group driving past in a jeep hit him.

The attack happened as the 50-year-old cyclist rode along Malt Hill towards Warfield at around 6pm last Wednesday, July 30.

As the white, older-style Jeep with five people inside overtook the man, one of the passengers struck the cyclist hard on the back.

The group were said to have been jeering and laughing as the vehicle drove away.

PC Philippa Davies said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a member of the public who sustained bruising and reddening after being struck by one of the occupants of a passing vehicle.”
