School ends on a whirl for juniors

31/ 7/2008

The final day of primary school turned out to be full of thrills for four 11-year-old Owlsmoor schoolboys.

When the bell finally rang to herald their last day as juniors, the four year 6 lads hurried out to the playing field, where a helicopter arrived to whisk them  up, up and away for a special trip.

Organised by dad Steven Holland as a treat for his son Georgie, the helicopter’s arrival from Blackbushe Airport caused an immense stir at the school in Cambridge Road, Sandhurst.

“Georgie has done so well in his SATS  – better than expected – as well as his boxing, so we decided to give him a treat,” said Steven.

School head Richard Blackmore gave the thumbs-up to Mr Holland’s plan, and the field was full of pupils running about with excitement as the chopper flew in.
