Treatment gets faster

June 17, 2008

Heathwerwood and Wexham Park hospitals have beaten Government targets for waiting times, according to new figures released by health bosses.

In March 88.4 per cent of patients who needed admission to hospital were seen within an 18-week period and 96.8 per cent of those who needed treatment, or to be seen by a doctor.

This compares with targets set by the health department of 85 per cent for admitted and 90 per cent for non-admitted patients.

Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Trust is not resting on its laurels and aims to improve on the figures further by December this year.

Deputy chief executive Evelyn Barker said: “This has been a remarkable trust-wide achievement, which has involved a number of clinical and administrative teams working together with passion and enthusiasm to find new ways to improve the patient experience.”
